Donations sought for Birmingham’s Prom Palooza
An event that has been planned for the city of Birmingham that will make sure that all of the district’s young women can head to their prom in style.
The YMCA of Central Alabama will be playing host to two different Prom Palooza sessions. During these, girls will be able to select a gently used dress and the accessories to go with it, free of charge, to wear on their special day.
Students who wish to participate will need the recommendation of their guidance counselor and will be issued an invitation to attend the function. A service that provides high school tutoring in Birmingham can be called upon to provide additional academic support so that all of the students will have an opportunity to graduate with their peers.
To assist it in its efforts, the YMCA is currently accepting donations of used prom dresses that are still in good condition. Anyone who would like to contribute is asked to drop of their gown at the YMCA located at 309 23rd Street North. They will be accepted seven days a week, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm throughout the duration of the drive.
The Prom Palooza events will be held in Pell on March 11 and in Birmingham on March 18. Members of the public can drop off the dress they wish to contribute up until March 16.
