My mom was a 2nd grade teacher for 28 years. She continually taught me the importance of education and a love of traveling. Being a kid that struggled when I was little, it’s important for me to now help kids that have those same insecurities. GradePower Learning has a wonderful program which allows me to do just that!
I graduated from the University of Utah in Human Development and Family Studies. I have been able to teach young children most of my adult life including preschools and Montessori schools. I have two kids of my own, who you will see in the center often, and love being able to share the love of education I have with them. My husband graduated from Utah Valley University in Spanish and hopes to one day use his Spanish in our center.
I love working with the students at GradePower Learning! I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, then attended BYU where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Child Development. My husband, Craig, and I raised four terrific kids. I worked for 25 years at the State of Utah, as a legal assistant, then as an administrative law judge. Now I have a chance to do the work I truly love and that's assessing and educating students. One of my favorite sayings is: Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today! That's especially true in education, where it is critical that students not get behind. One of the most rewarding parts of my work as Education Director is watching students gain confidence and make big strides in their educational progress.
I have always enjoyed working with kids. I graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. For many years I worked as a nanny and as a preschool teacher. I love to read good books and have traveled to many wonderful places around the world. I am married with three children. I love being outdoors, crafting, and baking.
I have been teaching at Jordan High School for eight years. I have two sons, a three year old and a one year old. I love science and enjoy learning how things work. I also enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and rock climbing.
I graduated with my Bachelor’s in teaching Biology at Utah State University. I received my graduate degree in Biology at the University of Utah. My favourite job I have had other than teaching was being a white-water rafting guide for the Snake River.
I love movies, ocean animals, ice cream, and word games. I have four children and one grandchild. I love spending time with them. I also love helping students learn. It is so great to see a student go from not understanding to “Ah ha! Now I get it!”. That’s one of the great things about teaching at GradePower Learning. I really enjoy working with the students here. They are so much fun!
I am a Senior at Utah Valley University, majoring in Biology and earning a minor in Chemistry. I am working towards applying for medical school. I feel my strongest subjects are the sciences but I am well versed in Mathematics, as well.
I was born and lived in New Zealand for 13 years. I have since lived in Illinois, Louisiana, and now Utah. It has been wonderful learning and experiencing new cultures while gaining new knowledge of the world around me. My hobbies include rugby, theatre, video games, music, and being with friends and family.
"I am getting better at writing and I love my handwriting book. It is helping me do better at school. It is fun to learn!”
- Braxton, 2nd Grade
"My daughter has made amazing progress at GradePower Learning over the last eight months and she loves coming here! At Parent-Teacher Conferences last week her teachers raved about her progress. Her third grade teacher from last year even emailed me to ask about what she has been doing to be so successful. We love GradePower Learning in Riverton and what they have done to help my daughter succeed!"
