Ocoee parents invited to go back to school
Ocoee families with an interest in discovering ways they can help prevent the “summer learning slide” and otherwise support their son or daughter’s education are invited to attend an upcoming Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) District Parent Academy session.
The ‘Dive Into Summer: Educational Opportunities for Student Success’ workshop will seek to give parents and caregivers tools they can use to help their child get the most from their time in school, and other areas of their lives as well. Along with this, it works to unite schools, families, the community, and other stakeholders in the interests of everybody.
The upcoming session will discuss a variety of ways that parents can help to keep their child learning throughout their summer break, and also tips for those with a young person who will soon be heading to college or university. Attendees will be invited to participate in an assortment of breakout sessions, and the tentative topics they can choose from include a discussion of the FAFSA program (which provides financial assistance for those pursuing a postsecondary education), dramatic education, and using digital resources to prevent the summer learning slide. A service that provides better grades tutoring in Ocoee can work with children over the summer months to ensure they are well prepared to resume classes in the autumn.
This session of the OCPS Parent Academy will take place on this Saturday, May 6, in University High School. More information can be found on the district’s website.
