Two Palatine teachers chosen for special recognition
The Illinois PTA has selected two of Palatine’s educational professionals for special recognition for the hard work they put in for their pupils each day.
The group, which represents parent-teacher associations from across the state, recently announced that it had chosen Jeff Zilke, who is Walter R. Sundling Junior High director of bands, to receive its Outstanding Teacher of the Year award. In addition to this, it named Lincoln Elementary Principal Mary Beth Knoeppel to be its Outstanding Principal of the Year.
According to the PTA, it selected Ms. Knoeppel because she creates a positive learning environment where each student feels valued and that they all have something important to share. It went on to say that she has worked hard to foster a climate where parent involvement in their children’s education is welcomed and has organized both baby sitting services and Spanish speaking classes.
With respect to Mr. Zilke, the PTA noted that he has encouraged his pupils to test their abilities, and given them opportunities to both learn and demonstrate their talents to the world. His principal, Jason Dietz, explained that Mr. Zilke is a true professional who continues to encourage his pupils to set goals, work hard and always try their very best. He works with 120 scholars on a regular basis in the course of his duties as director of bands. A company that provides tutoring services in Palatine can help any child to do his or her very best no matter who their teacher may be.
These educational professionals were presented with their awards during the 115th Annual PTA Convention.
