Studying for the new dSAT & ACT

The state of Illinois signed a contract for all public high school juniors to sit for the ACT starting 2025.  This will replace the free SAT that they had given in April since 2016.

For college admissions, students are still able to submit either the SAT or the ACT with equal consideration.  Neither test offers a significant advantage over the other.

Our programs have been refreshed for the new digital SAT, and we are preparing for the new redesign of the ACT coming in 2026.

Our test-prep program begins with a free baseline test, typically offered each Saturday.

Using that practice test, we'll help make a recommendation on what is needed for training and a timeline up to a target test date.  We recommend that students begin their training process as early as spring of 10th grade and at least 10 weeks before their target test date.

GradePower Learning Naperville Student Earns Perfect PSAT, ACT, and SAT Scores.

It is great to have my daughter coming home excited, happy, and confident in herself and her abilities. It's obviously helping with math and reading, and her confidence has carried over to her history class. She is thrilled that she has 100% in all assignments and quizzes so far!

Dear Alex and Richard, Thank you for your support in helping prepare Derek for the SAT and ACT exams. The lessons he learned from GradePower Learning boosted his scores tremendously. The weekly classes, coupled with the integrated practice tests, simulated the anticipated pace of the official exams. I personally believe that “practice makes perfect,” and Derek mentioned many times how the repetition of questions directly affected his scores (he’s now in the 99th percentile!). Thank you again for providing such a positive impact.

I have learned so much at GradePower Learning Center. I came to GradePower Learning when I was 15 years old and I took the ACT for the first time during my sophomore year. The first day I came, Alex told me it is possible and extremely difficult, but if you try hard you can succeed. I came in with a 21 on my ACT. I left with a 31. Now I'll be starting a guaranteed admittance dental program next fall. If it wasn’t for the constant help and attention I received from Alex and the others, I would not be able to achieve this huge feat. The difference between GradePower Learning and any other prep center is that they prioritize your goals as the most important thing and will work on anything to help you achieve those goals. Coming to GradePower Learning has provided me with opportunities for the future that I could have never anticipated!

Given the numerous options for tutoring and college test prep, we found the staff at GradePower Learning in Naperville to be thoughtful, experienced, and targeted in their approach. They established a relationship with our son from the first day. With the help of Alex and the team, our son’s test scores bolstered his applications such that he received acceptances from his top 3 universities!

Andrew had a very good test day for his second SAT. His R/W score improved to 780 (from 690 last November) and he scored an 800 in math with no questions missed. Thank you for all your work with him!

L.N.

Hey Alex, I just got my ACT scores and wanted to let you know that I got a 33! I was very shocked and grateful when I saw the score. My scores were 35, 31,35, and 31 on English, math, reading, and science, respectively. I wanted to thank you guys so much for helping improve my score from a 27 to a 33. I never would have done so well without the lessons, the packet, and the motivation to practice on my own. I owe you guys a lot, so thank you again. Sincerely, Reva K.

Alex- I was just accepted into Northwestern University. You were a huge part of that. I was able to move my ACT from a 24 to a 34 with you moving it from a 27 to a 34. I am super grateful for the work you guys do at GradePower Learning.

Alex and his tutoring staff take the stress out of the test! My daughter was looking for help in improving her ACT score. She has received individual subject/section help, testing tips, timing advice, copies of practice exams and peace of mind. They provided concrete ways to approach each question and gave her individualized feedback on her performance so she could improve! If you’re willing to do the work and take the advice of the tutors, they can help you! I cannot say enough great things about how easy they have made this process. They are flexible, smart, and they care about your test and your experience. If you want to do your best in any class or on any test, this is the place to go! I’m signing my next child up today!

Enrollment Process

Are you ready to invest in your child's future success? Are you ready to take your child from struggling to thriving and provide them with the challenge he or she needs to soar?

Then you are ready for GradePower Learning.

Our unique learning program will equip your child with the confidence and self-esteem to learn and succeed at anything–from college to a successful career. It's more than learning for school–it's learning that lasts a lifetime.

The GradePower Learning Process involves four important steps—The Dynamic Assessment, Program Recommendation, Active Learning Sessions and Regular Program Reviews—to put your child on the path to success.

HERE'S HOW THE GRADEPOWER LEARNING PROCESS WORKS:

STEP 1: THE DYNAMIC ASSESSMENT™
This may be the most enjoyable test your child has ever taken! In this low-pressure session, one of our dedicated staff members will administer the Dynamic Assessment™ to identify your child's strengths and weaknesses in regard to their cognitive and academic strengths. Our assessments usually take about two hours and assess whether your child is at, below, or above grade level—and what type of learner they may be! The results paint a holistic picture of your child's academic and cognitive skills and aptitude.

It's more than simply a placement test, it's a powerful tool to help you and your child identify their cognitive abilities that can have implications for years to come.

STEP 2: CUSTOMIZED PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION
We'll sit down with you and review the results. Based on the results, we'll recommend a customized learning plan that addresses weak academic skills, nurtures academic strengths, and builds confidence and true understanding in a way that no other tutoring plan can.

We also determine the number of coaching hours needed to produce better grades and better motivation. Our program not only addresses core subject areas, but it also integrates GradePower Learning strategies with school. We create a program just for your child; the curriculum is tailored to your child's needs in math, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing. This is how GradePower Learning works with you and your child to produce lasting and meaningful change.

STEP 3: ACTIVE LEARNING SESSIONS
Now that your child is "in on the plan," the relationship with his or her academic coach will be off to a great start. Working in small groups under the coach's personal direction, your child's training sessions will be filled with fun, lively discussion and a lot of celebrating. We celebrate success, but we also celebrate mistakes as opportunities to learn. After only a few sessions, you may begin to notice a change in your child's mood, confidence, self-esteem, and attitude toward school.

STEP 4: ONGOING PROGRAM REVIEWS
Our regularly scheduled Lesson Plan Reviews will keep you consistently aware of your child's progress on our shared journey to success. We'll also let you know of any changes to your child's program. While you're free to call us anytime with questions or feedback, the Program Reviews are events you can add to your calendar; sort of our version of a report card!

Lastly, we will connect with your child's teachers (with your permission) to form a partnership with them in order to collectively and collaboratively work with your child!
